Deepest sympathy to the family of Verla L. Miller, 92, who passed away June 20, 2010 in Ogden, Utah.  Verla is survived by five children, Elaine and Dale Norberg of Green River, Carolyn Noreton of Woodinville, WA, LaRee Hamilton of Ogden, Kenneth and Susan Miller of Altamont, Utah and John and Jill Miller of Green River.  Funeral services were held in Baggs, WY on Saturday, June 26, 2010 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel.  Internment was at Baggs Cementary.

Deepest sympathy to the family of Mable Catherine Pankey Criswell died May 8, 2010. She was 93. Mable was born Jan. 29, 1917, in Akron, Colo., to Grace Pankey and Clarence Harrison. Mable married her high school sweetheart Harry Criswell (1915-1965) and to this union five children were born. Mable is survived by her children Duane, Celesta Mowrey (Dennis), Denny, (Tani (Grover Thompson) and Jolene Camden (Jim); grandchildren Walker Criswell (Gayle), Danette Dillon, Darren Mowrey (Michel), H.D. Criswell (Jinny), Cheryl Relford (Eddie), Carrissa Fowler (James), Jordan and Grace Camden; and 11 great-grandchildren. Services are scheduled for the Grand Junction Seventh Day Adventist Church and burial is scheduled for the Savery Cemetery in Wyoming.

Deepest sympathy to the family of  June Faye Rasmussen, 88, who died April 22, 2010, at her home in Casper. She was born June 14, 1921, to Willis Fay and Bessie (Kehew) Barnhisel in Baggs. She married Robert H. Rasmussen in Rawlins on Sept. 4, 1938. He preceded her in death on Feb. 2, 1988. She was a homemaker, and together with her family owned and operated the Stonewall Ranch east of Savery for many years.  Survivors include three daughters, Betty June Schwan-Fowler and husband Doug of Rimrock, Ariz., Susie Allen of Wray, Colo., and Dolores (Dee) Thorpe and husband Jeff of Dodge City, Kan.; one son, Larry Rasmussen and wife Sherri of Cody; one brother, Norman Barnhisel of Rawlins; 11 grandchildren, Cindy Schwan, Rob Schwan and wife Karla, Veronica Gallegos and husband Andy, Bob Centa and wife Mindy, Shawn Beeler, Ty Beeler, Tammy Weber and husband Jason, Shane Rasmussen and wife Michelle, Kimberly Thorpe, Molly Taylor and husband Shawn, Traci Thorpe; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Deepest sympathy to the family of Mike Maxson, 64, of Craig, died April 6, 2010, at Yampa Valley Medical Center in Steamboat Springs.  Mike was born Jan. 25, 1946, in San Diego, to James Lyle and Barbara Jean Maxson, both formally of Craig. He was raised with his brother, Richard (Dick) E. Maxson, also of Craig.    He is survived by his wife, Jody Maxson; brother, Dick Maxson, of Craig; sons Aaron (Joan and Caleb) Maxson, of Louisville Ky., and Jason (Nikkole, Seth and Jori) Maxson, of Savery Wyo.; and cousin, Sheryl Lombardy, of Grand Junction.

Deepest sympathy to the family of Matilda Jean Hackett, a lifelong resident of Baggs, died April 3, 2010, at her home following a lengthy illness. She was 61.  Jean was born Sept. 2, 1948, in Hayden, Colo., the daughter of Orville and Zara Maxine (Cumback) Jons. Jean spent her childhood in Baggs and attended school there. She married David Merrill in 1967 and they were divorced in 1978. She married Ransom Hackett on Feb. 20, 1981, in Baggs. Jean enjoyed gardening, crocheting and caring for plants and she loved animals. She is survived by her husband Ransom Hackett of Baggs; daughters Glynda (J) Sheehan of Slater, Colo., Maxine (Robert) Oberley of Hudson, Colo., Toni (Steve) Graling of Gilman, Ill.; her son Richard (Tracey) Merrill of Cheyenne; her grandchildren Savanah (Jim) Chant, Jaymie Sheehan, Hannah, Raegan, and Ethan Merrill; her great-granddaughter Kolbe Chant; her sisters Janice Sherman Jons of Sun City, Ariz., Kay Jons of Baggs and her brother Ned Jons of Evanston.  Jean was preceded in death by her parents.

Deepest sympathy to the family of  Marcia Drake Lidstone was born on December 29, 1922, in Swampscott, Massachusetts. She died on March 26, 2010, in Denver, Colorado. She married Herrick Kenley Lidstone on December 17, 1942, in Wellesley, Massachusetts. Kenley predeceased Marcia in 1986. Marcia was the daughter of Francis E. Drake (1883-1957) and Grace Johnson Drake (1884-1976) of Pelham, New York, where Marcia grew up and raised her family of three children: Herrick (married to Mary Lynne O’Toole, lives in Centennial, Colorado); Rosalind (married to Thomas M. Smith, lives in Denver, Colorado), and Christopher (married to Katherine J. Laudon, lives in Fort Collins, Colorado). Marcia is survived by her three children, five grandsons (Kevin, James and John Lidstone and Andrew and Daniel Martin), and one great grandson (Xavier Patrick Lidstone).

Ralph W. Putnam Jr., age 52, passed away Friday, March 5, 2010 in his home at Hale, Michigan.  Ralph and his family lived in Baggs from 1982 to 1986 where he worked as a police offer and he coached JV girls basketball at Little Snake River Valley School.

John T. Frary, a resident of Craig, Colorado since 1986 and formerly a priest in the Episcopal Church, died on February 24, 2010, at Bonell Good Samaritan Community in Greeley, Colorado, at the age of 88. The Reverend Frary, who was known throughout northwest Colorado and southwest Wyoming as Father John, had served as vicar of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Craig until 1996 and as vicar of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Dixon, Wyoming, until December 1999, when he retired from active ministry at St. Paul's. Father John left the ministry of the Episcopal Church, made his Profession of Faith and was confirmed and became a communicant of St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church at Craig, Colorado, in May, 2002, along with his wife, Eloise.

Margaret E. “Bette” Hackett was born Sept. 10, 1919, in Cheyenne, Wyo., the daughter of Ransom Gill and Mabel (Shenefelt) McCargar.  She was raised and attended school in Rawlins, Wyo. After high school, Bette worked for Boeing Aircraft in Seattle, Wash., building B-29s, and then in Denver where she loaded shells for the U.S. Army. Bette married Donald Richard Hackett in 1948, and they became the parents of four children. They made their home in Sinclair and Rawlins.  Bette was a homemaker and while in Rawlins worked as a front desk clerk at the Bucking Horse Motel. They were later divorced, and Bette moved to the Little Snake River in the early 1980s and has made her home there since that time.  Bette is survived by her longtime companion, Chuck Norlander, of Baggs, Wyo.; sons Ransom (Jean) Hackett, of Baggs, Wyo., John (Pam) Hackett, of Hillsboro, Ore., and Quincy Hackett, of Rawlins, Wyo.; six grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Cheryl and brother Ransom Gill McCargar.  Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service was Feb. 24, 2010, at The Little Snake River Community Church with Pastor Paul Prestrud officiating. The soloist was Rae Lynne Prestrud, who sang “Amazing Grace,” accompanied by Florine Daugherty. Honorary pallbearers were “All Bette’s Family and Her Many Friends.” Memorial donations may be made to the Little Rascals Preschool in care of Grant Mortuary.
