RE: January 2010 Monthly Report
Dear Mayor,
The month of January was a month of training for Officer Dixon. He has progressed well and as of February 1st he is now working a shift of his own.
With the calls for service increasing in January we are seeing a trend in calls that goes as a predictable attribute to the economy. Criminal Complaints are up as we would expect with several cases of check fraud, and thefts being reported. The department continues to work several Felony cases and we have seen an increase in juveniles becoming involved in criminal activities.
Chief Owen returned from Chicago with some great ideas on how to become a better leader and how to communicate with the staff on goal oriented policing. We have already begun to evaluate our effectiveness in these areas. Officer Haderlie will be attending the challenge course in Douglas at the Wyoming Law Enforcement Academy the last week of February and the first week of March. This is to obtain his Wyoming Peace Officers Certification.
Chief Owen and Officer Dixon had training with Summit Bank Personnel to assist them in case of a robbery or suspicious situation that may occur at the bank. This has lead to a development of a policy in bank alarm response for officers follow.
The DARE program will be kicked off this month with a field trip planned in March to the University of Wyoming Cowboys Basketball game. The DARE program has been delayed due to personnel hiring and training. We are excited to get it started.

RE: December 2009
Monthly Report
Dear Mayor Corners,
We want to welcome Matt Dixon on board to the Baggs Police Department. His first day of work was December 28, 2009. Matt is currently staying at the Bob Cat Inn and is searching for an apartment or house. He comes with great enthusiasm and has already been involved in his first arrest. I am sure that with proper FTO he will be a great asset to the Baggs Police Department.
We have been investigating several felony cases that have been time consuming. Please keep in mind that we are in a double training mode as Chase and Matt are both still in training and it requires more of my time to insure that they been taught the right procedures. Both are doing well in their training thus far and both have a good work ethic that is reflected in their work.
We are in receipt of the tower contract for our radio system with Dubois Telephone Exchange. In review of the contract there are no additions and the amount remains the same as last year with the $170.00 donation from them to the Baggs Police Department. I would recommend signing the contract for the next year.
Chief Owen has requested funding from Homeland Security Grant 2007 to cover the third Digital Ally on board camera, the new computer system that was installed in August. This will leave us with about $1500.00 in this 2007 grant to expend before March 31 of this year. My intent is to use this remaining amount to purchase digital cameras and equipment to be used for crime scene preservation.
