Consumer Confidence Report on Water Quality - available at the Town Hall

Baggs Public Works Department
Monthly summary for June 2010

Water -We preformed general duties around the plant including CIPs, routine testing, water quality parameter testing, etc.  We are still in runoff season.  We are continuing the pretreatment pilot and are doing water quality parameter testing several times daily.  We have been keeping in contact with WesTech, Lidstone and Associates, and Hydrologx to continue fine-tuning the pretreatment system.  We had to turn the pretreatment off  on June 23 because it is only capable of treating 90 gpmand the town requires about 120 gpm.  We have been working on getting more flow through the plant, intensively cleaning the prefilters and checking for restrictions.  Michelle repaired a broken permeate fitting on Bank 1.  A water main broke in the project area, and we assisted Native with repairs.  Native has installed the 6” water main that will supply water to the Valley Community Center.  Native has begun replacing water mains, so we have started isolating lines and putting customers on temporary services.  Michelle met with Chris Lidstone and John Goin on the WTP intake upgrade and pretreatment.  We assisted WYDOT with water connections.  We read meters on the 28th.  We have been responding to line locates and work orders.

Sewer - General maintenance and duties were preformed.  We are checking the dissolved oxygen and pH levels daily.  Due to increased inflow, we began discharging again on June 7.  We will continue the weekly samples to Steamboat.  The sewer main that comes into the lagoon has been plugging, so we have been removing blockages weekly.  The sewer replacement project continues, and we are inspecting, coordinating and locating for the contractors.  Michelle is also keeping track of quantities, daily reports and wage interviews.  We had a meeting with Chris Lidstone and Chad of Native to update Chris on the project, as Jim O'Neill is no longer working for Lidstone and Associates.  Michelle attended the ARRA/State audit of the Water and Sewer Upgrade Project.  We have been responding to complaints of backed up sewers.  During the water leak, water flowed into the manholes, filling the sewer mains and flooding one garden.  The other complaints were on the customer's side.  We have been checking manholes to determine the source of the increased inflow to the lagoon.  Mark Court of WARWS came to camera lines that we suspect of infiltration.  We didn't locate any infiltration problems, but we did find areas with grease problems.  We inspected grease traps, and found one to be in good condition, one was un-maintained, and one had been removed.  We are working with the site that removed the grease trap to get a properly sized one installed.  We will be sending out informational packets and maintenance schedules to all grease trap users.  Pete and Linda jetted a sewer main that had backed up because of grease.  Brady and Linda have been mowing the dikes at the lagoon.

Roads - Pete bladed South, Whippoorwill and Flamingo Streets.  We spread mag chloride on them on the 25th.  Pete and Linda cleaned culverts.

Park - We are making weekly trash runs.  Michelle continues to study for her commercial pesticide license.  Linda Cheatham and Brady Duncan have been mowing the park weekly, as well as cleaning the TEAL bathroom and watering trees and trimming around them.  We turned the sprinklers at the park and repaired a broken line there.   Linda and Brady weeded the sand around the toys at the park.  We inspected the park for safety hazards and equipment needing repair.

Other - Michelle attended the council meeting as well as the budget workshop on the 8th as well as the council meeting on the 22nd.  Pete attended the budget meeting on the 29th.    Brady Duncan started as summer help on the 7th.  Michelle has been working on water and sewer rate structures and the budget.
